TRIPPIN' WITH ANDY
Platters I Play

Although I am a lover of many things in life,
my first and forever love is music.

What follow is a very small sampling of the bands and styles of tunes
I dig and cherish.

If you take a chance on writing me, maybe you will then be inspired to do
the same with the sounds that represent the depth of my soul and experience.

SMASHING PUMPKINS is a group into the alternative-grunge genre.
The Pumpkins, with the poetry and strained lament of leader Billy Corgan, have always resonated the feelings
and tangibility of things lost, such as innocence, love, sanity.... I have been down those paths many times and
have always found solace and restoration in SP's music. SP is music from love, of love and lovers

My favorite albums for the group are Mellon Collie, The Infinite Sadness, Adore, Machine and Zeitheist
These are the individual tunes I like: 1977, Where Boys Fear To Tread, Daphne Descends,
Tear, Crestfallen, Behold...The Nightmare, Raindrops and Showers, The Everlasting Gaza, Stand
Inside Your Love, I Of The Morning; Try, Try, Try; This Time, Wound, Blue Skies Bring Tears, Age
Of Innocence, Disarm, Starz, [Come On] Let's Go, Bring The Light, Neverlast and That's The Way [My Love
Is].

GLENN DANZIG is all about hard rock.  If you wanna get me in the mood all you gotta do is pop on some
Danzig and I am yours.  The man is a [dark] master of sensuality.  His voice will awaken the beast even in the
most conservative of souls.  His music is liberation!

My favorite Danzig album is All!  But I believe his personal best to be I-IV

The individual tunes I enjoy are All, Anything, Am I Demon, Tired Of Being Alive, Devil's Plaything, End Of
Time, Let It Be Captured, I Don't Mind The Pain and Son Of The Morning Star.

SLAYER hangs on the trash-metal gig.  This group won't get me in the hanky-panky mood.  On the contrary,
watch our for flying pumps, freaky condoms, frying pans and butt plugs.  Slayer is total chaos barely restrained
in its pouncing on being heretical and irreligious -- all in a monumental and uncompromising middle finger to the
world and all its wrongs.  Ah yes, ohhhhh sooooo anti-status quo!

So many of their songs are my favorites that the list is too long to print.  But my favorite Slayer albums are
Hell Awaits, Reign In Blood, South Of Heaven and Seasons In The Abyss.

Next up on the my jukebox agenda is
DEATH and that groups falls into the
death-metal genre.  This group is a pioneer in the death-metal sound. The late
Chuck Schulinder, who did guitar and vocals for the group, is considered by
many to be the lone forefather of this genre.

The group offered up progressive, uncompromising, real life music and
steadfast in celebration of metal as a force to open minds and engage people
to think.

Again there are too many to list my rave singles.  But my top Death albums
are Spiritual Healing, Human, Individual Thought Patterns and Symobilic

At this juncture visualize hooded figures and shades of non-color from black to grey.  Got it in your mind 'cause
here we go into goth-rock with
CHRISTIAN DEATH.  Concerning this band and my experiences while under

Sometimes when I think about my present abode, it sorta rings of
IRON MAIDEN.  I mean you gotta admit,
and you can't get the full appreciation unless you've been here, that prison is somewhat like the iron maiden
torture chamber of jolly ole Europe.

But I digress.  All I can say is that Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden has a voice that is beyond phenomenal. Iron
Maiden produced two albums without Dickinson -- XFactor and Virtual XI, both of which suck out loud.  So I
recommend not dropping any greenbacks for those albums.  But the band, without Dickinson, also did the Iron
Maiden and Killers without Dickinson and those two albums rocked.  The Maiden's work from 1980-88 is
considered their best work.  And for epic, high quality and true heavy-metal, this is the perfect starting place.

My favorite Maiden albums are Number Of The Beast, Powerslave, Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son, Brave
New World and A Matter Of Life And Death.

So that covers a
few of my favorites.  For a further excursion  into the darker and heavier realms, I recommend
the following: Samael, Moonspell, Amorphus, Bathory, Metallica, Megadeath, Alice In Chains, Morbid Angel,
Obituary, Ugly Mustard, God Lives Underwater, Samhain, The Misfits, Sinister, Candlemass, Hypocrisy,
Emperor, Burzum, Ulver, Borknaoar, Mayhem, Tiamat, The Gathering...and that's just scratching the surface.
